Marisa Mazria-Katz is a freelance writer born and raised in Los Angeles.
She moved to New York in 1994 to study at New York University's Tisch
School of the Arts film school, where she graduated with honors and two
awards for her film Sara (Warner Brothers Award, directing award from NYU's
First Run Film Festival). Upon graduation Marisa worked for two years on the
DreamWorks' television show Spin City. She completed the film Sisyphus Rocks in 2000, which screened at the Leeds International Film Festival (www.leedsfilm.com). Marisa
moved to London in 2001 for two years where she worked on two music documentaries for Channel 4, as well as completing a screenplay.
In 2003 she moved to the Middle East to obtain a Masters in Middle East History.
Since then Marisa has contributed to numerous newspapers and magazines including: New York Times, Financial Times, The New Republic, Travel+Leisure, Wallpaper*, Monocle Magazine, Forbes Traveler, Conde Nast Traveler (US), Chicago Tribune, Metropolis Magazine, Food & Wine Magazine, The Week, Departures Magazine, 34 Magazine, Nylon Magazine, Nerve.com, Spa Magazine, Time Out, Haaretz, Dealmaker, Dazed and Confused, Ski Magazine, New York Post, Planet Magazine, Dummy Magazine (Germany), Sherman's Travel and ESPN The Magazine.
Marisa was the Middle East Editor-at-Large for Alef Magazine from November of 2006 (www.alefmag.com) till November of 2007. She spent five months in the Gulf working as the Website and English Editor for the Dubai International Film Festival (www.dubaifilmfest.com) She completed her degree, Magna Cum Laude, and moved back to the US in October of 2007.
