In 2009, Marisa was the recipient of a State Department grant that helped to establish Words for Change (www.wordsforchange.org), a program that teaches citizen journalism in a severely marginalized district of Casablanca, Morocco. In December 2011, Marisa will head back once again for a short period of time to Casablanca to begin a new chapter in the program.
Today, Marisa is the editor of a new Creative Time initiative called Artists on the News (AOTN). Set to launch in October 2012, the program’s key goals will be to restore the voice of the artist in society by pushing them back in the spotlight as critical thinkers who actively participate in the issues of our time. With AOTN, artists/collectives will become correspondents and bring their own unique spin to current events.
Please stay tuned for the launch date as well as events supporting this exciting project.
