Moroccan television was altered in the late 80’s when the then King Hassan II sought to modernize the media by establishing a private television station called 2M. It was at the time quite revolutionary. Perhaps less so now as much of the world around them has television channels that are also seeking to push the envelope.

Still, Al Khayt Al Abyad, or the White Thread, is an amazing show that has updated Moroccan traditions under the guise of one of its most famous talk show hosts–Nassima el Hor. I got to spend a couple weeks with Nassima while she taped the show just after Ramadan in 2009.

Here is an in-depth look at her show–which is one of the most popular in the country.
