Marc Newson’s first stab at maritime design–the ‘Aquariva’ boat–elicits a satisfying nod to all the adjectives the London-based designer uses to describe it: “I the wanted the boat to look timeless, very, very slick, very much understated and very, very cool.” A reinterpretation of the Italian classic Riva leisure boats made in collaboration with the company’s own design team, Officina Italiana Design, Newson’s 33-foot version is at once an homage to the 60 year-old brand and decidedly futuristic.
