I traveled to Istanbul in honor of the openings of the Istanbul Biennial and Art Beat, a new art fair happening in the city. A lot of the cultural action seemed to be distinctly in line with those happening in the political sphere. Here is an account of what I saw for Monocle, from one of my favorite cities in the entire world.
