The Morocco Project/Words for Change is an ongoing citizen journalism course funded by the US State Department and Dar America that teaches young adults and children from severely marginalized areas of Casablanca, Morocco. The initiative began in 2009 after Marisa Mazria Katz visited the area where several of her students came from for Time Magazine.

The project has been covered in such publications as:

The New York Times/International Herald Tribune: “Creating a Children’s Refuge in Morocco’s Worst Slums”

Addressing the Girls and Women conference about the Morocco Project/Words for Change in Paris 2011

Vogue April 2011: “Keeping the Faith”
