Al Manakh|
Sporting Cities

29.07.2010 | by Marisa Mazria Katz

Al Manakh 2 was released in the Spring of this year. The compilation of over 140 articles focuses on developments within the Gulf. The word Al Manakh is “Arabic for ‘climate’ or ‘weather’. It is also a word for ‘market’. Al Manakh is also potentially the source for the word ‘almanac’. Climate, weather, market, almanac: Al Manakh populates all these various meanings.”

The book was originally conceived by Rem Koolhaas’ OMA and produced by Archis.

For the second edition I wrote about mega-sports cities in one of the world’s most arid regions. Click HERE to read the chapter.
