New York Public Library + CT|In Situ
In my new role as Director of Media Initiatives for Creative Time I am overseeing the new site-specific talk series in partnership with the New York Public Library, In Situ.
The series pairs leading artists and public intellectuals to address the critical topics of our time. The talks take place in iconic New York City cultural institutions and landmarks whose architecture and history further enhance the conversations—our first two events tackled religion at the stunning Gothic revival Cathedral of St. John the Divine (with Slavoj Žižek, Sister Helen Prejean and Janine Antoni) and feminism at The Lower Eastside Girls Club (with Eileen Myles, Anna Holmes and JD Samson).
Our third and final talk focused on climate change and featured the artist Mel Chin in conversation with Elizabeth Yeampierre, from UPROSE at the SIMS Recycling Plant in Brooklyn.
Below is the video for the second talk. I open the event with a speech on why this talk is so important right now.
